Have you ever wanted to capture the beauty of the birds in your garden? In this fun workshop, I’ll introduce you to painting birds using liquid acrylics.

Liquid acrylics are inexpensive, readily available, and come in a vast array of colors. For the beginning painter, they’re a super way to get started without breaking the bank. But don’t let these “craft paints” fool you. These materials are not only nontoxic and vibrant, they are lightfast and mimic the matte surface of many other more expensive acrylic gouache products. And because they’re so affordable, there’s no worries about “wasting paint” while you’re learning.

In this workshop, we’ll be painting on mixed media paper, another low-cost alternative to more expensive surfaces. I’ll provide the outline so you don’t even have to worry about your drawing skills! When you’re done with this three-hour class, you will have learned

  • Basic color mixing
  • All the steps to paint a realistic bird
  • Brush strokes for feathers, bills, and feet

Along the way, I’ll show you how to express your own style and make your work your very own.
