Should I Start a Vlog?

May 4, 2020

I’ve thought a lot about starting some kind of studio vlog. I follow Allison Lyon on Instagram and YouTube and watching her vlog always makes me think, “I should do something like that.”

The reason I haven’t launched a vlog or anything like it is because I’ve taken a hard look at Josh Spector’s advice: By not starting a project without committing to do it 100 times, you’re able to check your instincts and protect yourself from yourself.”

I’m not sure I’m willing to commit to producing 100 episodes of a tightly edited vlog content the way that Allison does.

Which begs another question: What is good enough when it comes to this kind of video content?

GaryVee says a lot of average content with great frequency is better than great content less often.“Creators, artists, say ‘no’ for the audience without letting the audience have a look. If you haven’t put out 100 things, your below average (content) might actually be above average and you don’t know it.”

By the way, I discovered GaryVee’s daily vlog through Five Great Lessons from Gary Vaynerchuck.
