The Moths Have Landed!

When I was 28 years old, I moved to Costa Rica and became a rainforest guide at Rara Avis. At night, we would hang up a sheet and illuminate it to attract moths for the lodge guests to admire. (Afterward, we would turn the light off and the moths would wander away, unharmed.)

My new pattern reminds me of those nights in the Costa Rican rainforest: gazing with wonder and delight at the amazing variety of these tiny creatures. I named this pattern “Night Circus,” in part to recall the entertainment that these moths provided but also in homage to my favorite novel, The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern.

This fabric is available from Spoonflower in two scales: small and large. I just got my order and shared my fabric haul on IGTV!
